Shared Hosting vs VPS vs  Dedicated Servers

A Shared hosting is a  Service in which a Server and its allocated resources are  shared among several users. Users have several limits on resources like disk space, monthly bandwidth, email accounts, FTP accounts, databases. All Physical resources in the server (RAM , CPU), Apache server, MySQL server and Mail server are on a shared.

Since resources are shared, it is a less expensive to host a small website with limited traffic, but it’s not sufficient for Websites with high user traffic.

Usually Shared hosting is capable of handling 400-500 users per day, so if you are a small business it would be quite suitable for you to go for Shared Hosting at nominal cost.

VPS ( Virtual Private Server) ,  is a virtualized server. It appears to the user as a dedicated server but is virtually installed on a computer serving multiple Website. A single computer can have several VPS, each one with its own operating system,  that runs the hosting software for a many users.

VPS  bridges the gap between shared web hosting and dedicated Server hosting . VPS gives  the flexibility of a dedicated hosting service, but at the price of a high-end shared hosting service.

For Users having some custom or eCommerce website is getting higher traffic VPS is the best solution , you can even choose the Physical resources like RAM, CPU , Bandwith etc.  a normal VPS Server costing shall be around 2000-3000 INR per month with 2 GB Ram 2.43 GHz CPU and  80 GB of disk space.

A Dedicated server is a computer  on rental basis  with  a Web server, software, and  Internet connection , hosted at the Data centre of the hosting company. A dedicated server is usually needed for a Website with considerably huge amount of traffic like millions of hits per day.

A normal Dedicated  Server costing shall be around 5000-6000 INR per month with 4 GB Ram 2.5 GHz CPU and  1 TB of disk space and 5 TB of Bandwidth.
